Lesser Monuments is an ongoing project made in a number of places around the UK. The photographs are the result of sustained seeing. Individually, the photographs are representations of the specific places before the camera, but cumulatively they evoke a broader atmosphere and sense of familiarity. Similarities of light and colour provide a framework for a more impressionistic take on the visual index.
The project builds on A Better Light and my MA research into changing perceptions of place in photography. This is the first sequence of images, and images shared here will change as the project continues.
Exhibited at Luhring Augustine, New York and Fake Tan Salon, London, and discussed in interviews with topphotographyfilms.com and mullitover.cc.
Since March 2013 (ongoing)
